Getting Through Pandemic and Beyond

AIMA organised its 47th National Management Convention online for the first time on 21st - 22nd September 2020 on a specially curated digital platform. The theme for the Convention was ‘Getting Through the Pandemic and Beyond’ and Mr Sunil Kant Munjal, Past President, AIMA and Chairman, Hero Enterprise was the Convention Chairman.
The two-day convention was addressed by iconic leaders, policymakers, global thought leaders and eminent speakers, both from India and overseas. With over 50 outstanding speakers and around 18 sessions, this Convention was the biggest AIMA has organised ever.
Mr NR Narayana Murthy, Founder, Infosys Ltd delivered the keynote address and expressed his concerns about the issue of board governance in India and suggested many solutions to improve the quality of corporate governance of Indian companies. Mr Sanjay Kirloskar, then President, AIMA & Chairman and Managing Director, Kirloskar Brothers Ltd delivered the welcome address and Mr Sunil Kant Munjal, Convention Chairman & Chairman, Hero Enterprise delivered theme address. Mr Harsh Pati Singhania, then Senior Vice President, AIMA & Vice Chairman & Managing Director, JK Paper Ltd delivered the concluding remarks. Ms Rekha Sethi, Director General, AIMA set the tone for the two-day convention with her introductory remarks.
Several awards were also presented to dignitaries virtually. Mr Harshavardhan Neotia, Immediate Past President, AIMA & Chairman, Ambuja Neotia Group received the Honorary Life Fellowship of AIMA. The AIMA-Kewal Nohria Award for Academic Leadership in Management Education 2020 was presented to Dr Rajan Saxena, Co-founder, The Open Ed works (TOE) & Former Vice-Chancellor, NMIMS (Deemed University). The AIMA-R K Swamy High- Performance Brand Award 2020 was presented to Bajaj Auto Limited and was received by Mr Narayan Sundararaman, Head of Marketing, Bajaj Auto. AIMA Best LMA Awards 2019-20 were also presented. A special digital Convention Souvenir which was made interactive and responsive, was also released on the occasion.
Mr Rishad Premji, Chairman, Wipro shared his insights on the topic ‘Global Business in a Fractured World: Reorganising IT Services Supply Chain’ during a fire side chat with Mr Vikram Chandra, Founder, Editorji Technologies. During another fire side chat, Prof Paul Saffo, Technology Forecaster and Adjunct Professor, Stanford University and Chair of Future Studies, Singularity University shared his views and insights on the topic of ‘Chasing Fire: Strategy for an Accelerating Future’. In conversation with Mr Rajiv Makhni, Group Managing Editor - Technology, NDTV.
The AIMA 47th National Management Convention also featured two of India’s celebrity gurus who shared their insights on how to one can cope during Covid and thrive in uncertainty. Sadhguru was in conversation with Ms Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Group and in another session, Mr Kamlesh D Patel (Daaji), Author and Spiritual Leader was in conversation with Mr Suresh Prabhu, India’s Sherpa to the G20/G7 & Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha).

This year’s convention attracted participation not only from India but also from various parts of the world. Around 8000 participants participated in a specially curated digital platform. Live streaming on AIMA’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitter channels also increased viewership by several thousand and had crossed over 1,00,000 views on all platforms.
46th National Management Convention
Creating an Innovative India

AIMA held its 46th National Management Convention (NMC) on 17-18 September 2019 on the theme ‘Creating an Innovative India’. The event was addressed by iconic leaders, industry experts, policy makers and entrepreneurs. Over 1000 management professionals attended the convention and benefited from insights shared by the speakers.
The two day convention witnessed participation from several leading members of the government, renowned CEOs, startup founders, distinguished economists and media stalwarts.
In his Inaugural address, Mr Amit Shah, Minister of Home Affairs, Government of India said “Industrial growth is beneficial for the nation's development and we are constantly working towards providing a conducive environment for businesses. Our government has proved that a government for the poor and farmers can also be a government for industrialists and businessmen”. Furthermore, Mr Nitin Gadkari Minister of Road Transport & Highways; Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India, spoke about the Bharatmala project. ‘The government has given the highest priority to infrastructure. Under the Bharatmala project, 75,000 kms of road and 22 new green expressways will be built,’ he said.
Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Law and Justice; Communications; Electronics and IT, Government of India, stressed on India’s focus on data protection and IT services. He said, “The data protection law is in process and we aim to make the country a data refinery”. Mr Babul Supriyo, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, delivered the keynote address on the second day of the convention. He said, “The $5 trillion economy may seem like an ambitious goal, but we have a humble government to keep inspiring us.”
In his keynote address, Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group, spoke about shaping the emerging global economic order. Mr Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog, said, “If you look at the last five years of India's economic evolution, India has grown at 7.5 per cent. Both Reserve Bank of India and the Government of India have acted on some of the issues of innovation to take India to a high trajectory growth.”

AIMA-R K Swamy High-Performance Brand Award 2019 was presented to Titan Company Limited received by Mr Munish Chawla, Regional Business Manager, Jewellery – Titan Company Limited. AIMA Best LMA Awards 2018-19 were also presented. The NMC Souvenir was also released on the occasion.
